Biography

I have always loved art, music, and nature. Self-taught, I dabbled in painting some over the years. However, painting took a whole new meaning and developed into so much more in 2019, while spending time with our mom during her end-stage cancer. Painting calmed my mind and helped me cope with reality. I truly believe it was a spiritual occurrence as part of preparation for me, of our mom’s passing. It was an interesting and special thing Mom and I shared together, as she also painted - a very talented oil artist for most of her life. She was very happy about me discovering this art outlet and growing in it. It became a passion of mine, and, it was clear this was to be a real purpose in my life going forward. It helps me feel her presence, a legacy living on. I am quite diverse in what I paint. My favorite is experimenting and creating colourful abstracts! However, there is quite a variety of subjects and colors I paint. My art is a reflection of who I am. Passionate, whimsical, fun, free-spirited, but also can be detailed, serious, and very focused.

Artist Statement

My hope is to bring some light, insight, warmth, and joy to people through my art, but through my story, too. I am excited to share my work and journey with you!! You can know each one is created from the heart. Passion. Purpose. Painting.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

Art entered my life as a source of therapy, a calming thing for me during a very difficult time in my life. I found myself painting more and it became such a passion, that I decided to try it full time.

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

I see myself as a successful abstract and impressionist artist working with designers and corporate consultants, while still continuing my painting for other clients/commissioned works.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

Through my artwork, I wish to communicate my passion, vibrance, and diversity in style/subject matter. And, to draw in the viewer to “feel” something from a given piece. Through my story, I want to communicate warmth, hope, and the healing of art.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

Certainly, pieces vary according to the subject matter, or if it is a commission painting, for example. I will usually sketch some first and then begin painting my version, from a reference. With abstract work (my favourite), I oftentimes paint from a feeling, mood, idea or simply a colour scheme I’m wanting to use! Feeling my way through…

What is your favourite part of the creative process?

My favourite part is seeing where my mind leads me ~ with the brush strokes, colours, tools and techniques used.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the future?

I currently have art exhibited locally in Florida, and, an International Art Exhibition at a multimedia gallery in Milan, Italy! I just launched my own personal art website and very excited about this!! It is my hope to gain more exposure, client base, and learn new ways to market my skills.
