Artist Statement

“My art is the confession of my soul” Aristotelis Deligiannidis.
My works are nothing else but “traces” of my own “personal truth”.
The artist, on a daily basis, actively engages in many different actions-routines-exercises in order to physically, emotionally and mentally prepare himself to create his paintings. His work is his own nonverbal reaction to everything that is happening around him. The energies that are being released are transformed into spontaneous movements on the canvas.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

I never thought of actually becoming an artist. I guess I have been an artist since I remember myself.

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

One, that through his art touches and motivates human souls.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

My own truth.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

On a daily basis, I actively engage myself in many different actions routines in order to physically, emotionally and mentally prepare myself to create my paintings. My work is my own nonverbal reaction to everything that is happening around me. The energies that are being released are transformed into spontaneous movements on the canvas. The stories are rewritten this time on canvas and the moments are there forever – traces of my own truth.

What is your favourite part of the creative process?

The creative process is part of the journey of life. There is no beginning nor end in my favourite parts. My aim is to experience paradise on earth which is a total and strong feeling and the favorite parts last for a long time and actually, there are no less favorite parts. The creative process includes many procedures towards spiritual fulfilment and there are many “peaks” along the way.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

I am preparing to participate in a residency in the ancient amphitheatre of Philippi, Northern Greece, where other artists and myself will create works based on the myth of the abduction of Persephone.
