Franco Baldazzi

Franco Baldazzi

Biography

Franco Baldazzi was born in Florence in 1969. After finishing school, he abandoned the practice of painting for some years. From a very young age, he accompanies in fact the passion for art a parallel working life, which often involves significant setbacks in his creative journey. Periods of fervid production, alternating with profound moments of reflection, outline the stages of a painting process that absorbs and intertwines the emotional life of the Tuscan. Constantly open to new forms of inspiration. The resumption is a bit difficult to the point of influencing the birth of a "black period", as he says, during which refines his technique opening to a style "dark". It is a short parenthesis, which however gives life to agitating paintings, confused and swirling compositions, expressions of malaise, and anxiety. Creative and multifaceted artist, he expresses himself with strong and contrasting colors, using phosphorescent enamels and acrylics. His particular creative vein pushes him to use, as pictorial supports, heterogeneous tools of everyday use: plywood, fabrics, polymers, plaster.

Artist Statement

My life, my story, my Art between my fingers. Those fingers that every day move according to your commands, most of the time dictated by our unconscious, emotions, sometimes by the conscious, rational part, that part that if left to chance is false and destructive of our being. Let them flow and they will build in the present your past and your future, daily gestures that if you want will be dictated by love or hate, what you will build will be this, or in the inability to want to live will be indifference. Then the magic begins to manifest in unexpected ways, once you begin to develop your courage, the universal intelligence that guides and sustains you, whatever it may be, dances with happiness because you are finally on your way to getting rid of the lies and becoming who you really are. What you are not dissolved, what you come to light.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

When you feel attracted to colors and brushes, blank canvases and other materials with which you can express an emotion, a concept and make it real, you have DNA in your blood. You've always been one, you become one with the knowledge that you can create astonishment, admiration, shock.

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

First of all a person, a human being who physically lives in the present reality, a bit detached to catch those aspects that "normal" people ignore. An artist, creative, multifaceted, unpredictable, sensitive and intuitive.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

So many people perform habitual acts and over time stop living. If I could provoke emotion and amazement in them by touching their most sensitive soul, making them reflect on a vision of life that escapes them, I would be happy. Certainly the vision of reality is subjective, based on what we have experienced in the past. I want to trigger a change in them! At least an attempt.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

It's almost impossible to explain the process, because each time is like the first time. The whole thing comes from a thought, divergent, a set of emotions. With great shyness and respect I grab colors and canvases and let myself be guided in the here and now, they are commands dictated by the emotional unconscious that have little to do with rationality. The work is born spontaneously, harmoniously in assistance with the universal intelligence that guides and supports me to get rid of the lie, so that the truth comes to light.

What is your favourite part of the creative process?

With the light of day we are distracted by other beauties, while with the arrival of darkness my works are born and come to life in the night. My favorite part is when the color sticks to the canvas and takes shape through the beating of my heart. The color is pulsing, vibrating and the magic begins to manifest.  In that moment, before it dries, it is alive!  In the morning with daylight, if finished, I feel joy love and gratitude welcoming my work.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

I'm solidifying projects and ideas that I had visualized for some time. The series tracks, connections, splash, free forms are some of the inspirations I would like to follow in the future. However those feelings, emotions that I live today could be different and take me to new realities, then everything will change, renewal, new energy. There will also be a new kind of painting, something is maturing and I can't express myself yet. This is the magic, this is the beauty of life, if you want to live it, in other way it will be indifference.
