Artist Statement
Love the paint is present throughout my life. I work in oil, acrylic, illumination, watercolour and pastel.
In 2008, I discovered the pastel technique; this translates into a change in my approach to painting, because the characteristics of pastels are perfect for what I want to paint. At the beginning of self so I currently participate in internships with pastels French masters. It is a pleasure to work in pastel, with its immediacy, its warm lighting and rich, pure colours. I like working a lot of subjects, animals, flowers, still life’s, but with a preference for landscapes, especially landscapes of the Natural Park of the Northern Vosges (Alsace – France). I also like to pass as a facilitator in various local associations.
What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?
As far as I can remember, I always wanted to draw or paint. Meeting the right people to help you prgress is essential. After that it is the sensitivity of each one which allows to choose such or such direction.
What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?
I think I'm someone sensitive and I try to put this sensitivity in my paintings.
What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?
I hope to touch the spectator by my way of showing our daily life, our universe, the landscapes which surround me or which will have marked me. I am very happy when the viewer stops in front of one of my paintings and says : it's beautiful.
Can you explain the process of creating your work?
I like to paint "en plein air". During the walks, I spot the places that touch me. The I come back one morning with my equipment. I like to peint in the morning because the lights are fantastic. I do i quick charcoal sketch and the turn up the colors. I insist on the shadows and the lights.
What is your favourite part of the creative process?
I think this is the last touch of light that I apply.
Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?
I am working on cities : urban scenes, markets, people. I also have large-format portraits in the pipeline. Animals also fascinate me.
