Artist Statement
I am a visual storyteller/ poet.
I unlock a visual narrative that translates many different stories in a Myriad of mediums..Paint, Photography and Digital Art. Human beings make sense of their world/Journey through the process of Storytelling by giving it expression through Art it gives one an empowering sense of freedom an almost healing effect emotionally. We are all products of our Past...it's our ability to embrace and deal with one's truth that sets each and everyone one of us apart...I created a new movement in Fine Art called STORY EMOTIONALISM, it evolved from the notion that we are all connected by our unique stories of how we arrived thus far in our journey todate!
We all started out as a , Once upon a time...as someone's little MIRACLE..or not..Yet not everyone gets to experience a 'happy ever after.' Sometimes we become broken as to let the Light shine through! As such there are no accidents in life either Lessons or Blessings...
We all have countless stories waiting to be released and find new Life captured by the Imagination of an Artist.
IN THE END WE ALL BECOME STORIES...
Joyce Moloney.
MOTHER OF STORY EMOTIONALISM.
What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?
When I was around 5 year's of age my Grandmother took me to a jumble sale at our local community hall....where I found several books on different Artists...my two favourite being Eduardo Paolozzi and of course Pablo Picasso. Their work struck a Creative cord within me and I recall buying a sketchbook and started to draw and doddle like them...
What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?
I see myself as a Visual Visionary Storyteller/Poet...Sculpturist. My legacy will ultimately be that I explored many different materials ,technologies and techniques to transcribe hidden stories for the viewer to decode personally through their own conditioning and filter system....After all, we all view the world through our own rose coloured glasses or not. The future of Fine Art belongs to those whom can imagine it, Design it and of course execute it!
What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?
My hope to challenge the imagination of said viewer....To inwardly take a journey of personal questions so far how said piece may relate or connect to their journey thus far or can they show empathy or understanding of what is Infront of them...For as such as human beings we make sense of our world through STORIES!
Can you explain the process of creating your work?
I gain my inspiration wherever the Universe provides it. My stories are inspired by chance meetings and the innate ability to converse to a wide variety of people (well pre-Covid ). Also from real life traditions or current tragedies....I love to illustrate Poetry also because words form wonderful imagery...I basically work on whatever Triggers my third Eye to produce and create, I meditate and in these moments I travel to my minds cinema and I thus sketch my Vision's from here....
What is your favourite part of the creative process?
I find great Solace and calm through expression by sitting down with my sketchbooks and scrapbooks leafing through and mentally creating a marriage between detail, design and layering...in doing so giving birth Visually to a unique desired outcome!
