Sonnhild Kost

Biography

Sonnhild Kost was born in Saxony / Germany in 1961. Before I could develop artistically, I worked as a draftsman in architecture. The art scene has always fascinated and stimulated me. My autodidactic work began in 2013. Whether in photographs, pictures, sculptures or poems, my feelings are expressed everywhere. I let colours and shapes speak for me. Merge with it and let arise. In this way, I bring the spiritual and the real world into balance. Everything is allowed because art knows no borders.

Artist Statement

I love the challenge, so I always try new things. Life is colourful and diverse. Just like in art, because everything is allowed, nothing is required.

What first made you want to become an artist?

After a near-death experience, I suddenly had creative ideas. So I started painting acrylic in 2013. I didn't want to leave the world without leaving a trace of myself.

What kind of artist do you ultimately see yourself?

I don't want to commit myself in this regard, as I always like to try new things. Bathing in paint, hands in clay, digital work, but also writing poems, I don't want to miss anymore.

What would you like to convey to the viewer through your work?

That everyone creates art when he shares it with others. What is created only becomes art through the viewer. How I see the world, interpersonal relationships and harmony with nature. It all belongs together. That's why I want to show my work to the world and share it with it so that many people can see it and work with it.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

It doesn't matter whether I paint, photograph, work digitally, make pottery or write poetry. I do exactly what I feel at this moment, what my eye is focused on or what kind of thoughts are just trying to get out.

What's your favourite part of the creative process?

In the now, in the process. When I can express my thoughts and feelings and thus bring the spiritual - with the real world back into balance.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

I will go on my way and absorb everything in constant change and try to bring it closer to you through my work. Be curious!
