Artist Statement

I create my art mostly by oil and acrylic paints although my profession is Art glass artesan. Body of my works varies from expressionism to realism with a hints of surrealism.
Themes of my paintings comes from everyday life, nature, starry nights and my inner world.
In this chaotic times we are living in I want to create art that can be like oasis in the desert where the watcher can ease in and take a breath and see the world in a different perspective.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

My mother is an artist too, so art and creating art has been daily, in my whole life. I painted my first oil painting age of four. In the year 2000 when I was eighteen, I decided that I wanted a career as an artist and went to study Glass art. Three years later I was an Glass Art Artesan but painting has always been my passion. As an adult, I never thought to be something else than an artist.

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

As an artist I see my self realistic expressionist who loves to throw fantasy and surrealism in the mix.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

With my paintings I want to give the viewer a place of peace and wonder. Where the viewer can ease their eyes/mind and see the world in different perspective.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

My creating process varies from taking pictures from the nature or different themes, then painting them using pictures as a reference or I just start to paint choosing only the colors I want to use and let the subconscious mind take me to a drive. Every painting is like a little adventure for me and I don’t want to know the results in advance.

What is your favorite part of the creative process?

Favorite part of creating paintings is learning always something new. I don’t just want to stick what I know, so every painting is a stepping tool to learn from different techniques, colors, composition etc.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

This year I have been experimenting different textures and techniques to give more dimensions to my works. At the moment I’m working a painting serie of five paintings. They go by working title ”Photosynthesis” and their style is little more abstract than i usually paint. I´m already eager to see the outcome, as always.
