Bo Song
Biography
Bo Song (1968-) began her artistic journey in 2012 while living in Michigan. Painting had previously been a hobby of hers, but the opportunity to pursue a BA in Studio Art from Oakland University in Rochester, MI and graduate studies at Hongik Graduate Art School and Dankook Graduate Art School in Korea have enabled her to turn her hobby into a profession. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Song’s spirituality, memories, and emotions inspire her creativity, using intuition and spontaneity to create shapes and landscapes that are borne from her imagination. She also incorporates core aspects of Buddhism, such as
karma, Zen, and the mandala, in her work to depict the natural order and the workings of the universe. She also incorporates circles and spheres into her works, signifying the interconnectedness of the past and present. She uses bright colors to depict the ever-changing beauty of life. Song’s work has been featured in exhibitions all over the world, including Korea, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States and has been published in numerous books and magazines. Bo Song currently lives and works in Unjung-dong, Korea.
