Tasha Wolff
Biography
I was born in the USSR. This fact was probably determinating in my artist formation. As I was there, I was suffocated by soviet realism, and moral and political lines. My artistic search was defined by the opposition but also by attraction by some soviet art's expression in a dialectic way. During my studies at Belarusian State Academy, I have chosen monumental and decorative art, as it releases a huge force of energy and seems in temporal like a broken dream. The intensity of this art on one side and the boaring quotidianity on another one induced me to create my concept "7 zip time" as a possibility to live several lives at the same time and achieve various dreams of liberty against the permanent regulation of human being in all the societies. Since 2020 I have realised several works dedicated to the democratic movement in Belarus against the dictature. Lately, the anxiety against the fratricidal war in Ukraine pushed me to continue exploring the intensity and beauty of liberating movement and the frustration of lost dreams and ambitions. The time in those works appears like a human construction, a time of "horror and beauty", history and immediate moment, peace and love.
