INTERVIEW WITH YU TAKAHASHI

My name is YU from Tokyo Japan. I'm a big fun of sports, especially I love basketball(NBA). My work's characteristics is improvisation. My works is depend on my mood.

Could you please introduce yourself and tell us how you started in the arts? and your first experience in art making? 

I was born in Tokyo. Ever since I can remember, I love drawing. However  from when I was junior high school student, little by little I will stop drawing, because I was playing basketball. But I liked art. So when I go to university, I decide to exam art university. I major in graphic design in university. But gradually I remember the fun of drawing. I'm drawing ever since.

How would you describe yourself and your artwork? 

The best characteristic is improvisation. I draw my feelings at that time.

Where do you get your inspiration from? 

My hobby is strolling. I meditate various things while strolling city.

What emotions do you hope the viewers experience when looking at your art? 

I don't wanna follow the crowds. I don't hope cool or cute. But I want to viewers surprise.

When do you know that an artwork is finished ? 

I don't know.. To be honest,  I don't feel something is finished when I'm creating my art works.

What has been the most exciting moment in your art career so far? 

Visiting in New York and was exhibiting in London. From 25th April to 6th May 2018, I have been exhibited in London in The Brick Lane Gallery. In addition, When I was childhood, I surprised my parents while playing tag. I felt fun of making people enjoy.This is the most exciting moment in my life.

How long does it take to produce one work? 

To be honest, I haven't made a masterpiece. So I don't know. But when I start drawing, I will finish at once.

What exciting projects are you working on right now? Can you share some of the future plans for your artworks?  

I'm a big fun of sports. Especially I love basketball. So I would like to make sports art works.

Do you have any upcoming events or exhibitions we should know about? 

At the moment, I have none.

Where do you see your art going in five years? 

I'm working in publisher now. But in the near future, I will drop out this company. So I will concentrate on drawing. Maybe my work is going to be big size and colorful.
