Artist Spotlight - Alessandro Vergari
Biography
Alessandro Vergari was born in Florence on 10 February 1964, in Tuscany, the land of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, from whom he surely got some DNA fragments. A multifaceted artist and tireless traveller, over the years he has developed a deep connection with art, exploring various fields, from photography to sculpture, with a particular predilection for wood. His artistic career is characterised by a constant dialogue with nature and with seemingly insignificant materials, which Vergari manages to transform into works of art of great visual and emotional impact.
One of his most distinctive projects are the Ritotem, a series of totems made using recycled materials from Upcycling, a creative process that transforms waste and forgotten objects into new artistic forms. Ritotem are symbols of rebirth and respect for the environment, made with precision and passion, with a strong symbolic component that recalls the connection between man and the earth.
His international experience was enriched by his stay in Australia, a period that had a strong influence on his creative path. During his time in Australia, Vergari explored Aboriginal culture, experienced the beauty of natural landscapes and absorbed the essence of a land that inspired him to create new works. His photographs, often posted on platforms such as Facebook, document this artistic journey, capturing the magic of the places and people he encountered along the way.
Photography is another medium with which Vergari expresses his vision of the world. His images, always powerful and full of emotion, tell stories of life and nature, with an eye for the beauty hidden in small things, in the everyday nuances that escape our distracted gaze.
Today, Alessandro Vergari continues his artistic activity, exploring new creative frontiers, maintaining a strong commitment to art as a tool for raising environmental awareness and seeking balance between man and the planet.

Artist Statement
Someone asked me if I take anything to create my works, but I replied in amazement; ‘why?’. For me it is natural to see ‘things’ in nature, in a stone, in a dry or burnt tree and then give it form and soul. For me it is normal to spend hours in my forest creating new installations, or tending to the present ones, subjected to the inclement weather, and it is easy to explain the motto chosen at the beginning of the artistic path created in my garden, which, taken from an opera by Verdi, says; ‘it is either a joke or madness’.
The artist must be a little crazy and at the same time not take himself too seriously, as can be seen by reading the short biographies I invent for each work created. What do I expect from the future? An ever deeper connection with nature, to the point of becoming part of it.
