How did your upbringing in Turin influence your initial interest in painting, and what sparked your transition towards digital art?
Since childhood, I have nurtured a profound interest in drawing. This passion offered me moments of tranquility and reflection, providing an opportunity to explore the world through a palette of colors. Growing up in Turin, a city steeped in underground culture and European influences, I was fortunate to be immersed in a vibrant artistic environment where diverse currents intertwine and feed off each other. This environment undoubtedly contributed to stimulating my curiosity to explore new expressive means. - The transition to digital art was a natural progression in my journey. Growing up in an era where technology was becoming increasingly accessible, I had the opportunity to experiment with various software and digital tools. This experience opened up new creative possibilities and allowed me to integrate digital art into my painting projects from my school days. The fusion of tradition and innovation enriched my artistic journey, allowing me to explore new frontiers and bring to life works that draw from both the ancient and the contemporary.
Can you describe your experience at the Instituto Artístico and IED in Turin, and how these institutions helped shape your artistic and technical skills?
My academic experience at the Artistic Institute was instrumental in shaping my approach to painting and acquiring a solid technical foundation. Here, I learned the analog techniques of painting, experimenting with color, materials, tools, and supports. This journey allowed me to explore freely and learn from mistakes, developing a process of awareness during artistic creation. I learned that every project or artwork has specific demands, and the artist or designer must be able to meet them by combining sensitivity and instinct. - My time at IED, on the other hand, provided me with a deeper understanding of the modern equipment and technologies used in the fields of art and design. This experience enriched my technical knowledge, bringing me closer to the planning and rationality of design. Today, thanks to both experiences, I am able to blend the fluidity of art with the structure and rationality of design. Depending on the project's requirements, I can balance these two characteristics to achieve the desired result."
What led you to move away from web design to focus more on illustration and animation, and how do you think this shift has impacted your creative expression?
"After several years of working as a web designer, I began to feel dissatisfied on various levels. Even though I had gained experience in the industry, I couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness in my work. By reflecting on what was missing, I realized my desire for the freedom and tranquility that I found in drawing, an awareness that pushed me to return to digital illustration and combine it with animation, a field that I had begun to explore during my studies at the IED. Over the last 15 years, I have honed my skills as both an illustrator and animator, continually adapting to new tools and techniques. In 2018, I founded the Frame Light studio, where I dedicated myself to the production of commercial content for clients and agencies. Subsequently, in 2021, I decided to split the brand into two entities: Frame Light studio, which serves as a portfolio for commercial work, and Frame Light Art, dedicated to showcasing my artwork at galleries and events.”
You’ve mentioned the importance of adapting your style to meet client needs. How do you balance your unique artistic vision with the specific requirements of different projects?
Over the years, I've come to understand that style isn't just about visual appearance, but also about the concept being conveyed. Through experience gained from commissioned projects, I've learned that each client has specific needs, whether stemming from brand identity, personal preferences, or communication objectives. Therefore, I believe it's crucial for a designer to adapt both their visual and creative style to meet client requirements. Examples of my adaptable approach can be seen in projects such as Forbes, Naturgy, and the Everything Light. - This ability to adapt allows the designer to broaden their perspective and make their skills and abilities more flexible. The result is not only financial satisfaction but also professional and personal fulfillment, which is essential for successfully tackling future projects more quickly and efficiently.
After working with various agencies and studios, what motivated you to pursue more independent projects, and how has this decision influenced your career?
The decision to pursue independent projects stemmed from a personal need to create for the sake of creativity itself, free from the time constraints and deadlines typical of projects for agencies and clients. Engaging in personal projects has allowed me to explore new creative abilities that have developed over the years. Currently, my career is divided into two parts: on one hand, I continue to work as a designer and animator on commissioned projects, right now I’m working as in house Designer and Animator at BIEN - the Inclusive Motion Design Studio, championing inclusion behind-the-scenes to create accessible content on-screen.- While on the other hand, I dedicate part of my time to creating artistic works with the aim of finding tranquility and communicating messages that can inspire and help people. - My goal for the future is to dedicate more and more time to my artistic career, gradually reducing involvement in commercial and advertising projects."
How has moving from Turin to Barcelona influenced your professional growth and the types of projects you undertake?
The move to Barcelona hasn't directly influenced the types of projects I undertake, but it has had a profound impact on a personal level. By leaving behind what was once my 'home,' I've had the opportunity to grow as an individual, which in turn facilitated a significant professional transition, turning my passion and desire into a career. Over the past decade, I've been fortunate to experience various work environments with clients and studios, learning from mistakes and setbacks, which has contributed to my personal growth. - Barcelona has now become my new 'home.' I find it to be a city in constant transformation, rich in cultural opportunities, and more open to the world. Perhaps this is why I continue to reside here, it better reflects the vision of what a place to live should be for me.
Looking forward, what trends do you see emerging in the world of design and digital art, and how do you plan to incorporate these into your future projects?
It's evident that the current trend in the world of design and digital art revolves around artificial intelligence, with all its implications, both positive and negative. However, considering that this field is still relatively new, I believe it's essential to experiment with this new technology and see it as a new creative tool, akin to a brush, a chisel, or a type of surface. - Furthermore, I consider it crucial for future generations opting for an artistic career to focus not only on the technical aspects but also on developing a distinctive method and creative thinking. Ultimately, it's this intrinsic value that sets us apart and makes us shine compared to a machine."

Studying traditional painting techniques has allowed me to develop a sensitivity to the use of color, light, and a thoughtful approach to each artwork's creation. This includes understanding that a piece of art communicates and sometimes leads you in unexpected directions from the original idea. Today, I can apply this sensibility to digital design. - My process closely resembles that of traditional painting, albeit executed digitally. I begin with a sketch, experiment with color palettes, and gradually layer information until I feel the piece has reached its essence. Then, I set it aside for a couple of months, allowing for mental and visual clarity. During this time, I gain perspective on the deeper demands and nuances that emerged during its creation. - After this break, I revisit the piece, making any final adjustments necessary. This method ensures that the work is not only technically refined but also emotionally resonant, ready to convey its intended message or emotion."

A project that embodies my philosophy of connecting with the essence of humanity is a series of digital artworks titled 'Triptych of Light.' This collection explores the evolutionary nature of being as it journeys through the quantum fabric, depicting three phases of a voyage toward infinity, inviting viewers on a journey of introspection and self-discovery. - The conception of these ideas often originates during deep meditations, where images unfold before me like on a canvas. Once the meditation is complete, I quickly transfer these visions to paper. Through sketches and brainstorming sessions, I refine these concepts, seeking to distill complex emotions into visual narratives that resonate universally. - In 'Triptych of Light,' I aim to convey the feeling of warmth and well-being experienced when stepping into the light. My goal is to communicate the same sense of profound connection I experienced during meditation.
