Ceviga Frahm

Ceviga Frahm

Ceviga Frahm (Kyungok Paik) is a contemporary artist with studios in London and Seoul who brings colour and concept in harmonious symbiosis. Her artwork visualises the state of in-betweenness through ecstatic burst of colours, light, and forms. She is a recent graduate of the MA Fine Arts at Chelsea College of Arts and has exhibited in galleries world wide throughout her career.

Ceviga’s decades-long practice crystallised in a constant development of painting and sculptural installations has been showcased in important art venues, such as Saatchi Gallery, in international art fairs, including the 2019 editions of London Art Fair and Art Miami. She also gained wide coverage through international publications, such as the The Daily Telegraph and the Art Collector Book. Ceviga is now developing a new body of work for the touring exhibition The Global Eye Programme 2020 that puts the top contemporary Korean artists under the spotlight.

With an overflowing creative energy and a series of career opportunities on the horizon, Ceviga is one of the contemporary artists to challenge the boundaries of painting and of our own perception. Her artworks are the fascinating result of an energetic process and enigmatic imagination.

They also reveal the influence of synesthesia, a neurological condition that has allowed great artists such as Kandinsky and Van Gogh to perceive and express sensorial information in a unique and intense manner. Body and soul are inextricably linked in Ceviga’s work and translated as abstractions of cells animated by layers of vivid colours though a gestural technique.

« I aim to stimulate viewers’ introspection by depicting the relations between human consciousness of the self and the wider world. »
