Artist Spotlight - Eliora Bousquet
Biography
I am a French listed and certified Professional Abstract Painter living and working in Paris since 2009. I started painting at 7. I started painting figurative watercolors but I have specialized through the years in atmospheric, symbolical, expressionist, and lyrical abstract art.
I usually paint in acrylic and ink. My main source of inspiration: the concept of and pursuit of FREEDOM from this world, led by a spiritual quest. I have painted more than 1,000 paintings (9 thematic collections) and regularly take part in exhibitions worldwide (+210 from 2010 on).
Artist Statement
"It is when there is something above life that life becomes beautiful."
These words by Jean d’Ormesson reflect the spiritual drive and endless fascination that have animated me since childhood for the sky, the stars, and the mysteries of the universe.
My abstract collection, "Celestial Visions," comprising five series of paintings, represents the beyond as I imagine and dream it: a timeless space where beauty and eternity intertwine, leaving all the room for imagination, the mother of inspiration and creativity.
The Inspiration Behind the Collection
When I was a child, on summer evenings, my parents, my brother, and I would sit on a bench in the garden to gaze at the starry sky while my father played the guitar. I was barely seven years old, and I was mesmerized by this magical nocturnal spectacle. I remember asking my father, who now rests among those wonderful stars:
• “Papa, are the stars far away?”
• “Oh yes! Very, very far! They are in infinite space!”
• “Papa, what is infinity?”
• “Infinity? Well... when you reach it, it’s always just a little farther!”
Since that day, I’ve never stopped wanting to get closer to the sky. Unable to do so in this limited earthly realm, I imagine it and transpose it onto canvases as white as the night is black. Using iridescent, vivid, or blended colors, I bring the landscapes of my dreams to life, hence the title of this collection: "Celestial Visions."
An Imaginary, Universal, and Inspiring Sky
The celestial landscapes I paint are never reproductions of existing places. They embody a sky I love for its universal nature: it belongs to everyone, yet no one owns it. This eternal and divine space is a constant source of inspiration, bridging yesterday and tomorrow, where freedom finds its essence and imagination takes flight.
I dedicate "Celestial Visions" to all those who have managed to preserve their childlike spirit and who continue to marvel, even in the winter of their years. These paintings are a reminder that we live each day at the heart of the greatest masterpiece of all: our world. This work, of inestimable value, deserves our admiration and protection.
An Ode to the Sky and Imagination
"Celestial Visions" is an invitation to look up, to dream, and to remember the beauty that surrounds us. Each canvas, with its vibrant colors and abstract forms, is a window to the infinite. I hope this collection will bring a spark of inspiration and an opportunity to reconnect with wonder to those who discover it.
