Could you please introduce yourself and tell us how you started in the arts? and your first experience in art making?
I'm a Japan based self-taught painter. I started my career in the arts after graduation from university. I wanted to be a cartoonist at first. So I applied some cartoon prizes and was selected as a finalist of GARO prize. GARO is one of famous cartoon magazines. It was my first experience in art making.
How would you describe yourself and your artwork?
I'm not sure about myself and my artwork. I've never think about myself seriously.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I paint the images that suddenly come into my mind. I don't know where the images come from.
What emotions do you hope the viewers experience when looking at your art?
People sometimes laugh at my works and it is the reaction that I hope. I think the fun is one of important elements.
When do you know that an artwork is finished ?
There is the moment the work are getting worse. Then I stop painting any more.
What has been the most exciting moment in your art career so far?
It was when my work was hung on the wall of the museum at a group show I participated for the first time. It was also the moment my work was seen by the people i don't know for the first time.
How long does it take to produce one work?
Naturally it depends on the size of the work. Talking about my favorite size(73x91cm), It takes at least 50 hours.
What exciting projects are you working on right now?
There is no project at the moment but I'm working on making a new work people call it "Killer work".
