Interview with Vladinsky

Interview with Vladinsky

Vladinsky was born on July 11, 1988 in Romania, in Onesti, a city in the Moldavian area, not far from Transylvania. In the first part of his childhood he experimented with drawing in pencil, trying to reproduce cartoon characters like Tom and Jerry and then after the age of 10, he started experimenting with extreme sports. He is part of a middle-class family whose child would normally have to choose another path, the path to a career in the area of oil processing because his parents were working in one of the largest refineries in the area. Because of the free spirit and the vision of an entrepreneur he chose a completely different way and is currently one of the most appreciated artists because he managed very quickly to reserve a place on the global art scene. It is a model to follow and very inspirational, managing to attract a few thousands of supporters to enjoy and represent them to the highest level.

Vladinsky currently, when we speak, at the beginning of 2020, comes after a period of creation in which he studied and made over 100 paintings trying to find a new form following an unknown path, namely the one through which the final form of the image achieved comes through spontaneity based on the experience of previous works. What he can represent for himself as a creator is not equal to what he can represent for the viewer because the visual experience of each individual is different and this conveys the magic of what is called the art world.  However his wish is not to get to New York or Hong Kong, his wish is a Vladinsky in every house.

Could you please introduce yourself and tell us how you started in the arts? and your first experience in art-making?

Although for me I want to believe that I know nothing about what I do, the experience I accumulate is increasingly difficult to put aside when I try to identify with something new, something coming from within me, something natural, minimalist. However, I remember when I was little, until I was 10 years old trying on a pencil, to reproduce cartoon characters and the only more accentuated or imprinted memory is from when I went with my parents to visit my sister in the another city and in the car I was trying to draw. I do not know if this can be called a start on the road to making art everyday and that is why the real journey in this direction began 10 years ago when I wanted to make a series of decorative paintings. At that time, I had no notion of what abstract art meant but when I realized the difficulty I was going to encounter I was super determined to develop myself in this direction. Living in Romania, I had no one to trust in this direction and nobody, until 2012 when I came in contact with an art dealer had not told me that I have something native through which I can very quickly find a visual balance through colors. So, it was necessary and that's how I felt and at this moment I feel that I have to express myself at a creative level as freely as possible and to go on a path that no one has ever walked.

How would you describe yourself and your artwork?

I think of myself as a man who never gets bored, after all this time, in the workshop there were many things that needed attention and everything became a routine, a routine that keeps me mentally balanced and puts me in movement every day. About my work as I can say about art in general is that art is not for everyone though we like to believe that way. Now it may sound a bit exaggerated and I know that at the level of my work and at the time of my experience, I tried to approach different topics and this made me and helped me get more real feedback from those who follow me.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Inspiration exists but it has to find us working. This is what Picasso said so more I important than to get your inspiration is not thinking about it and just stat the process.

What emotions do you hope the viewers experience when looking at your art?

I want to disturb them, I want to bring them into a state where I cannot directly associate what I see with what I know, many say that some of my work is similar to Bacon's and that is not bad at all just that the approach and the process through which it reaches certain results is completely different.

When do you know that an artwork is finished?

How do you figure out when a child will start to walk? It's the same with the end of a painting, it's basically a search through which I can see the end, I don't have a fixed landmark.

What has been the most exciting moment in your art career so far?

I had many beautiful moments, I did not have a favorite, I did not have time to think about it, the idea is that I was very often pleasantly surprised by how people perceive me when I meet with them at different events. I realized very quickly that what I do is not about making myself happy in the end, I quickly reconciled with the thought that my work must reach the eyes of the people to change their mood.

How long does it take to produce one work?

Vladinsky, see? 1 second. The point is to have fun while you do it and let people catch the fun when they see your work.

What exciting projects are you working on right now? Can you share some of the future plans for your artwork?

I am currently planning some exhibitions in different places in Europe such as Barcelona in May, London again in July and probably Bucharest at the end of the year. I have many invitations to art fairs in Amsterdam, Florence, Monaco, Berlin, it is very difficult to plan in conditions where the idea is not to expose as much but to make an impact wherever I go. Now if we are still in the future plans, I have proposed that in a very short time I can organize an event of 4 or 5 days in Bucharest where I can offer the visitor an experience as close to that of a museum and I expect to bring at least 10,000 visitors but up to that point it is still much to be planned but the good part is that at the moment I am at the creative side for such an event.

Do you have any upcoming events or exhibitions we should know about?

For the moment all my recent work is available on my website as I want to be in control of my work and where it goes.

Where do you see your art going in five years?

Let me be a dreamer right now and talk in 5 years about where will go from that point.
