Artist Spotlight - Josephine Palmer-Gabe

Biography

Jo Gabe's art began in 2003, a passion she always wanted to fulfil. Born in England and travelling extensively with work, Jo finally settled in Queensland Sunshine Coast, a very picturesque part of Australia.

Blue in Green, 2025. Acrylic on Canvas, 60x45cm

Her oeuvre is an exuberant exploration of colour, narrative and a fusion of contemporary realism with symbolic nuance. Navigating the fine line between abstract expressionism and realistic storytelling. Jo's background as a hairdressing colourist is vividly apparent in her palette:
Pushing boundaries with unrestrained approach that borders on both whimsy and intense.

Artist Statement

Art is so good for the soul. I live and breath art and try to create how I feel. I want people to feel joy and excitement when I show my art. I like a narrative, it has many meanings for the viewer to contemplate within the story.
