Could you please introduce yourself and tell us how you started in the arts? and your first experience in art making?
Hi, I'm Marina Koraki and as far as I remember myself, from my early childhood, I'd always draw everywhere I could... At school my schoolmates would always ask me to draw something for them...;) That's why I decided to study painting after finishing school.
How would you describe yourself and your artwork?
Ι'm an introvert and sensitive person. I've always been concerned about humanity and how things always "worked" on our planet. That's why I'm trying to discover and understand through my art basic terms of existence, in an optimistic way, by using archetypal symbols with Art Deco influences.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get inspiration from nature, interpersonal relationships and from religious and philosofical beliefs. A little child's smile can be an explosion of ideas in my mind...
What emotions do you hope the viewers experience when looking at your art?
What I tend to do is to inspire peolpe to keep living in an optimistic way. I'd like to motivate them realize how simple life is in it's complexity, that we are nothing but stardust. I'd like them to think that the quintessence of existence, the only real thing would be happy moments in the present.
When do you know that an artwork is finished ?
Hmmmmm......I'm never really sure about that..... ;)
What has been the most exciting moment in your art career so far?
My first solo exhibition.
How long does it take to produce one work?
It depends...about 10 days of continus work...
What exciting projects are you working on right now? Can you share some of the future plans for your artworks?
I'm still working on the Butterfly Effect project the idea of paradise as the source of the souls and on the Cosmic Sea project the idea of the microcosmos in the megacosmos.
Do you have any upcoming events or exhibitions we should know about?
I'm having a solo exhibition in Cyprus next year at Kapatays Gallery.
Where do you see your art going in five years?
I don't know....I'll just let it flow...
