Multi Award-Winning Artist: Michael Owino

Michael Owino is a multi-award-winning artist whose work spans graphic design, music, literature, and visual art. Beginning his creative journey as a young child, Owino received private lessons in music and drama, excelling in classical guitar and drums. At 15, he joined the influential new wave band Ballet Mecanique, releasing three albums and performing across Scandinavia.

In his early twenties, Owino shifted focus from music to fatherhood and education, establishing a music company that released over 100 titles by international artists. His deep interest in education led him to earn a degree in pedagogy and further specialization as an autism expert, working with autistic individuals for years.

It wasn’t until the age of 48 that Michael turned to writing, and since then, he has published four novels, with his fifth set for release in October 2024. His first foray into visual art came while designing the cover for his third novel, which was so successful that both his third and fourth book covers were exhibited as independent works at art galleries.

Owino is also renowned for his striking iron sculptures, which have captivated audiences worldwide. His work in metal combines intricate craftsmanship with bold statements on modern life, often exploring themes of love, connection, and human experience.

His art has been showcased globally, with exhibitions in Rome, Paris, the USA, Dubai, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Miami. Known for his distinctive mixed-media approach, he combines photography, painting, digital art, and sculpture, creating powerful and immersive works that resonate across cultural and artistic boundaries.

Recently, Owino expanded his creative practice with a series of videos that visually extend his literary works, further blurring the lines between media. His ability to seamlessly merge different artistic forms has made his work both innovative and deeply impactful, cementing his reputation as a boundary-pushing, multifaceted artist.
