Artist Statement
I have an admiration for the Old Masters paintings, drawn to their technical qualities, dramatic use of light, and masterful compositions. I am fascinated by their ability to convey hidden subtexts through symbolic colours and intricate details.
Calla, Double Vision series, 2025. Mixed media on canvas. 144x115cm.
Inspired by the Old Masters, I began incorporating symbolic elements into my work. By carefully selecting objects and colours, I encode my images with deeper meanings, inviting viewers to uncover the layers of interpretation.
Peony, Double Vision series, 2025. Mixed media on canvas. 85x75cm.
A few years ago, my vision began to deteriorate drastically. Now, I can only see blurry silhouettes with a double-vision effect. This experience led me to adopt the technique of superimposition, allowing me to translate my perception of the world into my art.
Rose, Double Vision series, 2024.
My latest project, Dialogue, explores the intersection of past and present, reinterpreting historical themes of gender inequality and the female role in society through a contemporary lens. In this series, I superimpose iconic Old Masters paintings with self-portraits interwoven with elements of floral still life.

The recurring motif of flowers and the female figure symbolises two intertwined forces—both nurturing and life-giving—offering a poetic reflection on strength, femininity, and transformation.
