Biography

Natalia Rose is a Danish artist known for her expressive semi-abstract works which painted with broad and heavy brushstrokes. The artist raises questions about the nature of communication and the way in which one can express abstract ideas through colour and iconographic markings. Born in 1953 in Stavropol, Russia she studied at the Moscow State University and later at the University of Copenhagen.

In 2014 the artist held her first exhibition in Copenhagen and since in New York, Paris, Amsterdam and London. Today, her works are held in the private collections across world, in USA, Canada, Spain, Sweden among others. Natalia Rose is a member of La Société académique ARTS-SCIENCES-LETTRES, Paris France and Billedkunstnernes Forbund BKF (Visual Artists Association of Denmark). Artist statement

My paintings do not depict things which I actually observe, but rather what I recall from the past, and more accurately, what I wish to see. Drawing from historical and cultural imagery a map of identity that intermingle Eastern and Western ideals of beauty, as well as mythologies. Believing that color stimulates a conversation between motion and shape, I transcribe life's events through hue, shape and motion and translate onto canvas with a syncopated beat the magnificence of our world.

With constant motion and impression intensity, we experience overwhelm in the search for a tangible means of self-expression. Complexity and lack of clarity leads to an experience of separation, loneliness, and a yearning to connect to something. Someone. While at the same time to separate and be distinguishable, differentiated. We are held captive by a state of unrest, but in the end I believe, beauty will save the world.
