Biography

Gina Plunder is born in Romania, based in Rastatt, Germany. She graduated at the High-School for Graphic Design & Art Freiburg She is member of BBK- federal German artists association and IAA International Association of Art.

Artist Statement

My aim is to create an imaginary world like fantasy places, visionary architecture or situations, always with a strong depth effect that almost seems to suck the viewer in. At the same time, I want to catch the light and simultaneously to break it, like crystals do and to create a tree dimensional illusion.
However, I use a real situation as a starting point to create the new, imaginary world from it. Escapism, women and architecture are the topics in my work.
I’m using countless layers with acrylic paint and spray on canvas to create my unique style like crystalline reflexions, so it takes time to let my paintings “grow”. My inspiration comes from ancient art, mythology, traveling around the world, getting to know different cultures.
My architecture-paintings are created from parts of iconic buildings across the globe. I’m inventing fantasy buildings without space boundaries. At the one hand, these works are describing the significance of the home like the motto “home is where the heart is” and at the other hand they take the viewer into another world.
