Lorena Valentini
Biography
Lorena Valentini, or LOVA, as she likes to call herself today, grew up in French-speaking Switzerland with her older sister and her parents, who immigrated from Italy. After training as a graphic designer, Lorena worked for and in various advertising agencies for a long time. Some of her work is in the Archive of the Zurich University of the Arts – Museum of Design Zurich.
Lorena set out in 2019 to develop her true potential and has been producing art as LOVA ever since. As an artist, she is unpredictable. She is very curious and tries again and again to understand how things work around her. The best way to do this is to draw, reduce things to their essence or the essentials. She often mixes two ideas into one new one. Her works are characterized by her keen eye for the environment, her humor and her charm. And they are extremely sophisticated in their simplicity.
Her new project are drawings which are inspired by the poems by susanbrandy.com.
Artist Statement
As an artist, I'm essentially interested in creating work that makes you laugh, surprises you, makes you think, makes you cry, makes you angry. Otherwise it's all decorative. But I admit that sometimes I also do decoration.
