Kathleen Kilchenmann

Biography

Kathleen Kilchenmann was born in Zürich Switzerland, and is a self-taught artist. All the time she was painting besides family and work. She visited and lived in many countries for longer such as Italy, France, UK., the U.S.A., Canada, EastAfrica and India.
Her work has been presented in several galleries and Art-Fairs in the U.S.A., Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Netherlands. Many paintings were printed in different art publications and magazines.

Artist Statement

My sources of inspiration are nature, landscapes, urban architecture and foreign countries and their people. By engaging with these topics, I create compositions on canvas, wood and metals. Using acrylic paints, pigments and varnishes which I combine with materials such as barks, straw or wood and home-dyed materials to make collages, I create haptic structures on the support media. This enables visitors their sense of touch to engage with the exhibited canvas which is my intention.
