Sebastian Jefford

Biography

After growing up in the Buckinghamshire countryside Sebastian completed his first degree in Fashion Design in Milan. Graduating at the top of his year he completed an internship in Copenhagen before joining the knitwear brand SIBLING in London where his designs featured in London fashion week This period still influences his work, especially a dynamic and vibrant use of colour. After London, Sebastian and his wife moved to Cardiff to settle down and start a family. Sebastian is inspired by memories, events and his past experiences. He matches colours and material to moments and layers them individually onto wood or canvas, then sands back the layers to reveal what’s underneath. Once he has the colour layer finished, he uses shapes and symbols from that memory and lasers cut them out of plywood or mdf and puts the two together. By combining the two, he is abstracting a memory and telling a story of that moment.
