Artist Statement
Free of style and tools, I make the most of all artistic possibilities in order to approach every work of art with an open mind. I immerse myself in a quiet, prejudice-free zone, in which I not only try to surprise the audience but also stimulate thought through hidden messages.
What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?
I grew up in an artistic household and learned early on to express my feelings and thoughts through color. Since art is a platform that is not only forgiving but also free from prejudice, it has always been a welcome retreat.
What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?
I am an artist, free of style and material, always looking for something new. My goal is to redefine myself through my art and to make my innermost visible.
What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?
That it's okay to deal with your inner self. The audience has the right to look at the images with an open mind, to research a painting, and to be inspired by the various messages that are not always recognizable at first glance.
Can you explain the process of creating your work?
The feeling of a picture arises in my subconscious. It takes on more and more shape, to the point where it can no longer be held. The inner turmoil signals to me that it is time. The picture wants to go out into the world. And sometimes even while I'm actually working on another project.
What is your favorite part of the creative process?
The tension of the void. To face this fear of the blank sheet and to find the courage to reinvent yourself. To discover what is hidden deep under your own surface, to see how it finds its way through my hand out of paper. The thrill of a new picture and the self-knowledge when looking at the result.
Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?
I get inspiration from life. The city, nature, the people. When something appeals to me on a subconscious level, it releases the jam of color that keeps accumulating in me. Then, when I start working, all the confused impressions come together in order on the paper and make sense again. I admonish myself and always try to work consciously at the moment. The past cannot be changed, the future is indefinite. Only here in the present, I can leave my imprint in the world, give color to my voice. I'm looking forward to the future and what it has in store for me. But I am also grateful for every moment that I can call my own.
