Rania Abulhasan
Biography
Rania Abulhasan is a contemporary Kuwaiti artist. Her artwork is strongly influenced by her experience of fashion and product design: she emphasizes life and movement, using shapes and vibrant colors to express her ideas and communicate her message. Professionally working in Art and Design since 1998, Rania finds that her passion for her work, and for sharing her love of beauty, continues to grow. Rania holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from The New School at Parsons School of Art and Design; she started her university education at Parsons in Paris, then moved to New York to complete her degree. She majored in Fashion Design while continuing to explore her passion for design and Fine Arts: she attended a fine arts program at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and minored in Product Design at Parsons. Throughout her studies, Rania worked with many influential artists and designers in New York, Paris and Milan.
Artist Statement
Art is life no matter how fragile the times.
What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?
It didn’t need thought. It was what I felt comfortable with. I grew up being exposed to art & design which led me to seek an education in it and continue a career in design & art
What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?
I am open to growth and change. Currently, I am a contemporary visual artist exploring ways to express myself in 2D and 3D form. I am a designer, illustrator and a painter.
What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?
I feel art and design are intertwined in my work. I like to share a story through working with the senses

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?
I just launched my Thawb Collection for the Spring season. It is inspired by the festive Kuwaiti attire. I continue working on my commissions for this season. Some of which are: family portraits, wedding illustrations and oversized canvas paintings from my Community and Landscape Collections. I am currently accepting my Summer commissions and will be launching a new collection of illustrations for the Summer season!
