Biography

Helga Palasser is a trained sculptor based in Austria who gained her diverse working experience especially by travelling to different places around the world like California, Nepal, Zimbabwe, and several European countries. The heavy compact material she uses is transformed into light fine shapes that could occasionally give the impression of drawings when looked at from the distance. When looked at closer, the corporal aspect of weight imposes itself without diminishing the lightness of the form however.
In these paperworks the artist chooses the light material of paper instead of clay to emphasize the fragility and vulnerability of each of us in particular regarding the theme of women who are still disadvantaged in our world. The abstract work “Hurricane of Silence” tries to make the spectator feel the unique female power in her body and mind that supports human society in a vital way silently without causing attention.
