Artist Statement

There is an underlying love of nature, form, detail and colour. There will be an image, an inspired moment when the energy of a particular image speaks soul deep to me and brings through a form of greater understanding and sometimes healing for me personally. I also give space to the work as it progresses to speak to me and direct me.

Endangered - Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo, 2023, Acrylic on Canvas, 76.2 x 76.2cm

I’ve encountered that there are times that what I envisaged at the start changes over time, it’s as though the work itself is directing me where it wants to go, how it is to be represented, what message it has to offer. It’s amazing to me what the creative process can uncover for me personally, as hidden within the work is a personal message, sometimes obvious in the title of the work, sometimes it’s something I don’t share. The thing is about my artwork, there is an energy embodied within each work that will reach out and I hope, touch people.
