Interview with Eveline Göldi

Interview with Eveline Göldi

Born in 1973 and raised in Teufen AR, the artist discovered her passion for colours and materials at an early age. In the 90s, Eveline Göldi deepened her self-taught knowledge and experimented, followed by various courses and workshops. After she was able to move into her own studio, more and more large-format works were added, and the demand increased as a result. After various workshops and courses, including at the School of Art and Design in Zurich and the Academy of Arts in Kolbermoor (Munich), she was able to move into her large studio in Herisau in 2014. The best placement and exhibition at the Historisches Museum in Bern was a breakthrough, reported in the press and media. The artist can be found again and again at various exhibitions, fairs and in publications, both in Switzerland and abroad.

The works from Göldi’s studio are imposing, full of power and shine with intense color. The world, the people and especially their mind, more cheerfulness on walls. Apartments consist of her long-standing observation, mostly only white and dark tones to black. The goal of the artist is in addition to color to incorporate joy and surprise effects in her works. Profound, moving and powerful it should arrive at the viewer, briefly interpreted: Energetic from human to human.

Can you tell us when you decided to pursue a career as an artist?

I had the enthusiasm for art since I was a child, but when I started painting with acrylics in the mid-90s, I grew the desire to put my messages into pictures and make happy faces. When I was able to sell the first paintings, I wanted to refine my technique and so the next steps came naturally.

What kind of artist do you ultimately see yourself as?

Contemporary art with a mixture of different techniques is the closest to me. I also want variety. But especially I just want to create a connection between me - art - message.

What do you want your art to convey to the people who see it? What is the purpose or creative motivation behind your work?

The viewers should discover much more than just the superficial, through multiple layers and processes images and creatures are generated, each theme is taken from everyday life the life, sometimes profound, sometimes funny. With prolonged contemplation, a work of art becomes a walking object.

Can you tell us about the process you use to create your work? What is your typical work day like?

I work on background with a build up of about 20 layers, so a lot of drying time, which means I work on different pieces at the same time. I usually choose the subject based on the background so that it is coherent and blends in. The subject can sometimes take a long time to emerge.

Where do you get your inspiration? What motivates you to create?

Nature and everyday life, but of course also when works are sold.

What was your greatest success so far?

The Art Award of the Historical Museum in Bern (Switzerland) with an exhibition of my awarded work during 10 days in the museum. That was also the first time I had a big press presence.

What are your final professional goals?

I want my works to bring joy worldwide, and to inspire and motivate buyers daily on their journey. I would like to have more representation in galleries and art fairs worldwide,

What are you currently working on, and what can we expect from you soon?

Currently I am working on a pair of lovers, figuratively it is a rooster and a chicken. The dazzling rooster is already finished, it characterizes the wooing of the female by posing. The chicken in love is soon ready for a publication, she shows her most beautiful feathers (most beautiful side) and bows to him.
