Natha Out of the Blue represents part of her name (Nathakorn) and her spontaneity. Chiangmai, north of Thailand is her origin working studio base. She is a self-taught artist that has been creating her subject matter that blends with her inspiration and design on her canvas with several techniques she inspired.
Painting on canvas, she will be preparing her gouache color from the pigment mixing them with the binders. She uses gouache to have some earth tone that she likes. Acrylic colors still take part and are playful on her canvas. The way “OUT OF THE BLUE” action has inspired her most of the time. It is when she feels drawn to establish the creation with a plentiful amount of energy.
Can you tell us about the moment you decided to pursue a career as an artist?
It is slowly becoming an affirmation for her. The dream to paint given the expression has been holding in her heart since teenagers. She is a self-taught artist. Most of her free time will be spent in the nature landscape with her watercolor kits and a black ink pen. During her first ten years with her official employment, she kept managing her finances and saving for her artistic dream. It was during the Covid-19 pandemics that allowed more time and space for her creation with her canvas and the acrylic colors. Then she cannot stop her enthusiasm for painting. This is the moment confirmation telling her that it is now to pursue her artist career.
What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?
She likes to sit in her comfort environment where winds can kiss on her skin. A light acoustic music is playing in the background. She will be able to cleanse her emotion and thoughts into sketching, collaging for the ideas of her painting. She uses her concentration to give her expression. Her artworks would include parts of animals, nature elements, household equipment and human figures. Sometimes it will be a painting of the surrealistic, the oniric shamanic, the abstract expression or the intuitive healing character.
What do you want your art to convey to the people who see it? What is the meaning or creative motivation behind your work?
She wants to give off a supportive vibe. In general in our lives, we encounter the darkness in our soul. Either learn the lesson, let it go and kick off new growth or repeating the vicious cycle, she likes to convey these kinds of stories in her artworks. During these paths of her stories and also her life she is working towards the peace and love in her stories.
Can you tell us about the process you use to create your works? What is your typical workday routine?
She starts her ideas with inspiration; they are from reading fiction, aesthetic books or being in the quiet nature surrounding. She sketches and collages them either on the digital pad or on paper. Once the ideas are ready she will be working in her studio painting 4-7hours. Each painting is finished one by one in a row. When she finishes a series of 5-8 canvases, she will continue with the photography process for the digital file then upload them to her website and her social media platform.
For the painting day she will start around 9:30 to 12:00 then 14:00 to 17:00. Sometimes painting takes her through the night. Three to four days a week is only for painting. She leaves the remainder of the day to find her inspiration and digital works.
Where do you find inspiration? What motivates you to create?
They are from reading fiction, aesthetic books or being in the quiet nature surrounding. Part of the time it arises from being “out of the blue” she catches the glimpse of some pot clay in her garden or a table or chair in a coffee shop or a giant tree in the middle of the forest while she hikes.
