Ana Herraiz
Biography
Madrid, 1993.
Ana Herraiz is a self taught Spanish artist. From an early age, she showed interest in drawing and painting, finding in art a therapeutic way of expressing her emotions an desires, as well as how to face her internal fears and concerns.
Her first artistic influence was Salvador Dali, the greatest exponent of surrealist current, who inspired her to enhance her creativity and express her idealistic character though the world of dreams.
Likewise, her creations are marked by a clear social interest due to her nonconformist attitude towards life and daily problems.
In 2016, she graduated in Law from the Carlos III University of Madrid, a fact that contributed to consolidating her subversive style and interest in transforming social problems though art.
Between 2013-2016, she moved to Paris for studies, where she found inspiration in the impressionist aesthetic characterized by the use of saturated colors with a lot of light.
She has held national exhibitions in Barcelona, Zaragoza and internationally in Paris, Milan and Tuscany.
She currently lives and works in Barcelona Capital.
Artist Statement
The purpose of her work is to shake consciences. The artist is interested in protest art since she conceives it as a powerful tool for both social and internal change in each human being.
All her creations have an inspiring or transgressive message to provoke an internal reflection in the viewer, without leaving him indifferent.
She frequently resorts to the association of abstract ideas and concepts typical of figurative art, moving away from the merely aesthetic discourse.
The materials she uses are usually acrylics and oils, with which she likes to experiment on different textures and supports.
She loves saturated colors, a symbol of strength and energy.
