Daria Martinoni
Biography
Having a background in Geography, Daria Martinoni is interested in exploring our perception of space and reality. In her Photography, she experiments with long shutter speeds and several zoom settings or camera positions in one exposure. With this approach, she aimes at questioning our making of the world through experience and knowledge. Daria has been awarded numerous Honourable Mentions in renowned photography competitions. The Switzerland based artist has held two solo exhibitions, and has had her work included in several group shows.
Artist Statement
With the Covid-19 crisis, things that we have assumed to be certain, suddenly no longer apply. My latest body of work emerged from the confrontation with feelings such as insecurity, uncertainty, confusion, powerlessness - but also longing and hope. I worked with several zoom settings or camera positions in one long exposure to express the paradox that the world (has) changed incredibly fast, while at the same time everything seems to sort of standing still.
