Mary Morgan
Artist Statement
My influence as an abstract expressionist painter is continually impacted by my life’s journey. My artwork expresses the joy of living through color and abstract form. I recognize that my art is a response to whatever is important at the moment. I often work on two or three different projects at once. I am influenced and inspired by nature, travel, family, literature and everyday circumstances. It is an honor to be able to share my life and work with my audience. I hope that it will inspire others to find their own voice.
Artist Bio
Mary is a Texas born abstract expressionistic painter. Although her life’s career was teaching, Mary is currently a working artist. Mary’s artwork is often recognized by her spontaneous mark making and the use of mixed mediums. She recognizes that the content of her work is a combination of conscious and subconscious thought influenced by internal and external experiences. Creativity is a process that reflects her soul. Mary explains that her collective work is a visual of her life’s journey. She began her journey with art as a senior in high school at the International School of Zurich. Since that very modest beginning she has many other experiences that lead her to become an artist. She wants to express her gratitude to all the artists whose art influenced her and for her mentors who encouraged her to pursue her dream. It’s important to Mary that the viewer has an emotional connection with her work and interprets according to their own voice and vision. Since the Covid-19 she continues to work steadily in her home studio.
