Richard Kanter

Biography

Ever since 9/11/2001, Richard has been inspired by studies in metaphysics, The Tao Te Ching and Qi Gong (energy cultivation) to capture the beauty of the formless springing into form (pure creative force) that exists all around us despite the seeming chaos in our lives. As such, Richard creates in the Abstract. Many of his works reflect spirituality as he paints in recognizable natural forms including circles and spirals. Richard has coined his portfolio a Body of Waves to reflect that his works are bursts of energy influenced and produced by light waves. He begins each work with a meditational awareness before the blank and formless canvas to construct vibrant color forms, which carry the seeds of creation and display many layers and depths of creativity.

Since 2008, Richard has been sharing his artworks more and more…. Richard has been juried Best in Show in June 2010 at the RoguesSpace Gallery in Chelsea, NY; has had a piece rendered digitally for the big Screens in Times Square, NY in response to 9/11 for Art Takes Times Square in Spring of 2012; has been published several times since 2013 in Franklin & Marshall College’s Alumni Arts Review and in 2021 for Long Island’s charity fundraiser, Times Beacon Record News Media Artist Coloring Book. Richard has also shown several times before 2021 in Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY for Pancakes & Booze (World’s largest underground art show) and his own solo show respectively. Richard looks forward to sharing his works further throughout the world moving forward.

Artist Statement

For me, Art reflects pure creative force. As an artist it all begins with an empty space and a meditational awareness, a space of nothingness, which allows for creation and re-creation (movements of energy). What is sought is to see again- perceptions that weave together a glowing tapestry of color and love.

I have learned to trust my intuition when it comes to Art; and, so by placing faith in the art, the art becomes faithful. I’ve discovered for myself in the art-making process- a joy, a connection to the colors of life force energy and an empowering journey of transmitting and translating the beauty of hidden vibrations that exist around us at all times.

It is my heart’s desire to let my works go and communicate through each that even with all the upheavals in our personal, professional, local, regional and global worlds that the Universe gifts each of us the ability to perceive (see, feel and sense) beauty everywhere. With the hecticness and chaos of life, may art support the viewers interest in connecting with personal power, peace and balance from the inside out.
